How long should it take to get the engine to operating temperature from cold (ie to 90c). Last week it took 7 miles, driving through town traffic (stop/start) to finally reach 90c and the outside temperature was 5/6c. Contacted dealer who seemed to think that this was normal. My other previous cars have reached operating temp in about 2 miles regardless of external temp.

i travel 7 miles to work and my engine has never reached full temp yet on a cold morning. Its a straight through drive, no lights or other traffic, so a short travelling time as well.

Outside Temperature at the start of my journey this morning 5C. Car set to eco mode. Combined housing & slow moving motorway area. Average speed 45km. Took 9 mins to reach 90C. Outside temperatures after ten minutes 3C so chilly one!
