I've recently taken delivery of a May 2021 build excellence lux. It was a factory order and I specified the 'towbar pre installation'. I didn't opt for the full factory tow bar install as I wanted to keep the value of the car below the 40k tax bracket.
Anyway, this morning I rang my local seat dealer and knowing mine had the tow bar pre install, they still quoted me £1700 for the fold away tow bar to be installed. I had been told to expect a cost around £800.
Can anyone who's had the genuine fold away tow bar installed by seat after initial car purchase let me know please what dealer did it and how much it cost?

I didn't have the pre-installation on mine as it was a demonstrator, and in total it was £1000 to supply and fit the full electrics and retractable towbar.

I don't know where in the UK you are, but I bought my Tarraco from Seat Huddersfield who are now part of the Pentagon Group. Its almost 18 months ago but it cant have gone up by much.

Tow bar finally fitted. Here briefly is my tale.

1. Seat dealer Llandudno quoted me £1750! Even though I told them I'd had the pre installation done at point of factory order.

2. Seat Wrexham thought the job was too difficult as they wouldn't be able to manage the electrics and actually told me to take it to a tow bar specialist ( despite if I'd have done that it would have invalidated my warranty!)

3. Seat Derbyshire quite me £660 including VAT and fitting for the factory style electric fold away.

4. Seat Salford quoted £660 including VAT and fitting and they got the job. Despite having a minor coding issue during installation, I had good customer service there and they resolved that issue as quickly as they could.

So the moral of the story here which I offer is...shop around folks. Some people dont know their arse from their elbow when it comes to quoting for work you want doing...and some people do 😉
