Got the idea from this thread and the strut does work very well.

The top nipple mount is unnecessarily fiddly but it works.

Update on the Bonnet Gas Strut, the base has unfortunately broken and the bonnet almost fell on my head today, not happy.

I have been trying to get some decent inner door sill trims for some time now (mine is the SE Tech so doesn't have any factory fitted) and even though I can source the Xcellence and FR, well, my car is neither.

I looked for Tiguan (AllSpace) ones but they all have some garish Tiguan lettering until I bumped (a combination of chance and research) on this: Chrome Inner Door Sill Scuff Plate Stainless Steel 4 Pc Interior

It took about a month for them to arrive and the package was cracked at the bottom and all sills bent! Fortunately, I have a friend with a decent heat gun so managed to bring them to an acceptable condition. Fitting is very straightforward, make sure to clean the surface thoroughly and heat both the surface and double-sided tape, sizing is perfect and adhesion, so far, very good.

I am unsure about the rears but will keep them for now (they obviously are for the Tiguan proper, not the AllSpace (which is the VW Tarraco equivalent).

I have been trying to find some decent external door sill covers for some time but the only ones fitting the Tarraco seemed to be those ghastly Tiguan (with the lettering and all, bleurgh) that frankly didn't look at all good quality-wise either.

Finally, though, some decent ones popped up on eBay (they are relatively expensive, I know, but you get what you pay for) so I am now able to cover the extensive scratching (I blame the kids all the way here) and have some protection at least.

Will see how they fare longevity wise but the inners have remained in very good nick (they are also high-grade, quality aluminium) so I am hopeful.

It may not look as flashy but you can always use PPF film on the painted parts for protection. £10 is more than enough for material. Application though is another matter!

Tried that (with helicopter tape) and always ended with bubbles and/or wrinkles, also, eventually, even the best film tends to dull and/or get scratched itself and it shows a lot.
